How to apply eyeliner in a straight, neat and perfect way?
- Prep your eyes
If you have sweaty or oily lids, it is going to be difficult for you to apply eyeliner. Also, oily lids will cause your eyeliner to smudge. And ofcourse you don’t want that. Therefore, the first step in the application process is to wash your face properly with a face wash to remove excess oil, and then put a little eye primer on your eyes. The primer will create a smooth base and will make your eyeliner stay longer.
- Stretch Your Skin
Place your eyeliner close to your lash line and using your finger pull the skin near the outer corner of your eye and make it taut a bit. This way you have a stretched canvas to make a smooth and straight line. If however, your hands start to shake, put your elbow over a table or something else to keep it steady.
- Don’t Stretch Too Much Though!
For a clean straight line, you need to stretch, yes, but not too much or else when you leave it, you’ll see a crinkled and distorted line. So stretch just so much to make the wrinkles go away, you need to taut, not tug.
- Keep the perfect posture
You don’t want to keep your eyes fully closed; just half closed so you can still see in the mirror when applying the eyeliner. For the perfect posture, keep your chin up and look down slightly.
- Draw Dashes and Connect Them
Once in position, draw small dashes/dots starting at the inner corner of your eye along your lash line till you reach the outer corner, and then connect them using short strokes so that you don’t mess it up. This way you will get a perfect line. Once done, make a clean stroke in a single go over this line to ensure that your liner looks even.
- Extend the Eyeliner, if you please!
If you want to add a little drama, a little more attention to those already gorgeous eyes, extend your liner beyond the outer edge of your eyes. You could create a winged or reverse winged look.

Use a duct tape or spoon diagonally from the outer corner of your eye, and trace a line using your eyeliner. Let it dry, and there you go- the perfectly shaped flick!
- Don’t be afraid, if you fumble
